Do you have questions about getting started at WKU Elizabethtown? The sections below provide quick answers, how-to guides, and helpful links.
You will use TopNet, WKU's central platform for managing your student information. This includes class registration, financial aid, academic records, academic holds and more.
To access TopNet, go to the myWKU portal and select it from the left navigation bar.
Registration for fall classes usually begins in March, and spring registration usually begins in October. For exact registration dates, click here. Plan to register early to get the best selection of classes.
NOTE: You'll need to meet with your academic advisor before you can register.
You can search for and add classes via the "Student Services" tab in TopNet. Watch the below video for step-by-step instructions:

If you receive a message saying you have a hold on your account, you van view it in TopNet by going to: Student Services > Student Records > View Holds. This page will show you the type of hold and the phone number of the office you need to contact to resolve it.
An Advising Hold is placed on every student's account each semester. You'll need to meet with your academic advisor to have it removed before you can register for classes.
If you have a non-advising hold (for example, a financial hold) and are unsure how to take care of it, call the number given on the View Holds page in TopNet.
Once you've added classes, you can view your schedule it in TopNet by going to Student Services > Registration > Student Summary Schedule. From here, you can see your instructors, class times and locations, and view your required course materials.
You can drop a class any time before the class begins. Once the semester has begun, check the academic calendar for drop/withdrawal and refund deadlines.
Procedure
- Login into Topnet: http://topnet.wku.edu (Click Registration, click Register/Add/Drop and select the appropriate term)
- Locate the class(es) from which you need to withdraw (Click the drop/down box, and select the withdraw button. Note: Be sure to click Submit Changes at the bottom of the page.)
- Verify the transaction was processed properly by checking the status of the course. (Verify that Credit Hours now reflect "0.0 hours for each class dropped.) Your academic transcript will reflect a grade of "W" for each withdrawn course.
Note: If you are dropping a class before the add/drop deadline at the start of the term, it will say "drop" instead of "withdraw." In this case, your transcript will not display the "W" grade.
Your degree audit is a tool that you and your academic advisor can use to track degree progress. You can access it by logging into TopNet, selecting the "Student Services" tab, and clicking "Degree Audit".
Watch this video for information on accessing and interpreting your degree audit:

While the specific classes you need will depend on your major, there are a few general requirements that apply to all students earning a bachelor's degree at WKU:
- A minimum of 120 semester hours
- at least 42 upper-level credit hours (courses numbered 300 or above).
- At least 25% of your semester hours must be completed through WKU
Your academic advisor can help you review your degree audit and determine how many credit hours you have left to graduate.
In addition to your transfer advisor, who is here to help you understand your degree requirements and stay on track to graduate, you may also wish to speak with someone in your department who has experience in your chosen field and can help you understand your program more deeply.
Find your program via this link and click "learn more" to find the program contact for your chosen major.
