Angela Johnson '08

Angela Johnson graduated in 2008 with a major in Sociology and a minor in Criminal Justice. She also completed a six hour internship with Probation and Parole before graduating.

She is currently a Probation and Parole Assistant Supervisor, and she has been with Probation and Parole for over eight years. When Angela graduated, she started working with the Daviess County Drug Court Program as a case specialist. After working there for two years, she was hired at Probation and Parole in Louisville, KY.

“I enjoy helping people with drug addiction.” Angela said. “I enjoy seeing them succeed and become productive members of society.”

Angela  has many memories with the sociology department that are memorable.  She  really enjoyed Dr. Groce’s classes and Dr. Pruitt’s class.  She also enjoyed taking a tour of Kentucky State Penitentiary.

Angela’s advice to college students interested in this field is that it is not for everyone.

“It takes a certain kind of person and mind set.” Angela said. “I think if you are interested in helping others with drug/alcohol addiction, then this is the job.  Probation and Parole isn’t just about arresting people, we are here to make offenders more productive in society by using community resources available. “
