While attending ECTC, she was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. After receiving her AA, she transferred to Western Kentucky University’s regional campus in Elizabethtown. She currently maintains a 4.0 GPA and will graduate with a Bachelors of Arts degree in May 2020, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Sociology. While attending WKU, she received the President’s Scholar for Fall 2019 and was a member of the National Society for Leadership and Success. She will continue her education at WKU, having already been selected for the Master of Arts in Education (MAE), Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program.

In July 2019, she began and continues to work at, Communicare, a mental health facility in Brandenburg, KY. There she is employed as an Adult and Youth Peer Support Specialist (PSS), with a caseload of approximately 40 clients, ages 12 to 75. In her role as a PSS, she assists people with mental health diagnoses by offering support to individuals that may be lacking structure in their lives and advocating for them. The knowledge she gained from WKU’s sociology courses has been invaluable, providing her with an understanding of the socio-economic challenges some of her clients face and their ability to navigate the various systems to ensure they obtain the support they require. The sociological foundation provided by WKU will continue to pay dividends for both Jacquelyn and her clients in the years to come as she aspires to become a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.
