Special Education - Course Prefix Change
ANNOUNCEMENT: Course Prefix Change
EXCEPTIONAL EDUCATION IS CHANGING ITS NAME TO SPECIAL EDUCATION BEGINNING FALL 2012
BEGINNING WITH FALL 2012 REGISTRATION, ALL COURSES FORMERLY LISTED WITH THE "EXED" PREFIX WILL BE LISTED WITH THE "SPED" PREFIX. COURSES LISTED UNDER THE EXED PREFIX WILL NO LONGER EXIST BEGINNING WITH FALL 2012 REGISTRATION. WHEN STUDENTS REGISTER FOR FALL 2012, THEY SHOULD REGISTER FOR SPED COURSES.
FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU PLANNED TO REGISTER FOR EXED 330, YOU SHOULD NOW LOOK FOR SPED 330 ON TOPNET.
WHY THE CHANGE? – THREE REASONS...
- WKU is becoming a Leading American University with International Reach and other leading American universities overwhelmingly identify their programs to prepare teachers of students with special needs as "Special Education."
- Many prospective students don't realize that "Exceptional Education" is, indeed, "Special Education" and they choose another major because they can't find us!
- We want our program to be easily recognizable to those who are searching for a teacher preparation program that will prepare them to teach students with special needs.
