Dr. Julia Mittelberg graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and TESOL. She began her teaching career in the Kansas City area teaching K-6 ELL for 4 years in Title 1 schools.
In 2009, Dr. Mittelberg went to Tampico, Mexico to teach at an American/International school. She taught grades 2 & 3 and was also the Elementary Assistant Principal for three years. While living and working in Mexico, Dr. Mittelberg pursued a Masters of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Emporia State University.
Following this, Dr. Mittelberg moved back to the U.S. to pursue her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction at Kansas State University, where she was able to teach elementary education courses at the university.
Her research interests include: international teaching, military-connected students, English language learners, and cooperative learning.
