MORE STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

Black Student Leadership Conference (BLAC)

The Black Leadership and Academic Conference (B.L.A.C.) is a student led initiative, which seeks to provide programming that focuses on personal, academic and professional development of minority students, all while enhancing their overall quality of life at Western Kentucky University (WKU). B.L.A.C seeks to offer opportunities to enhance one’s leadership abilities and scholastic performance; all while instilling wisdom of and fostering the culture of the minority student.

Sister Act Mentoring

The Sister Act Mentoring Program empowers, motivates, and guides minority females who are seeking to attend college. We strive to enhance their lives through workshops, enrichment programs, and utilizing prominent guest speakers. Our program offers a curriculum that focuses on helping girls build leadership skills, critical thinking, self- reflection, and goal setting.

Council of International Student Organizations (CISO)

The Council of International Student Organizations (CISO) was formed in the Spring semester 2016 with the purpose of helping international student organizations collaborate and cooperate with their various activities. The organization successfully coordinated an “International Olympics” and took the lead in participating in a Spring World Festival on campus. The CISO takes a leadership role in guiding and communicating between member organizations; serving as an analog among international student organizations to “pan-hellenic” associations in Greek-letter organizations. To that end the CISO is a representative body comprised of one designated representative from each of the international student organizations at WKU.

National Pan Hellenic Council (NPHC)

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is the governing body for WKU's nine Historically African American letter sororities and fraternities. It was formed as a permanent organization on May 30, 1930 on the campus of Howard University, in Washington DC, with the following stated purpose and mission: "Unanimity of thought and action as far as possible in the conduct of Greek letter collegiate fraternities and sororities, and to consider problems of mutual interest to its member organizations." The WKU NPHC provides many on-campus activities during the school year such as educational programs, weekend dances, and the Homecoming Step Show. The NPHC also works very closely with the Interfraternity Council (IFC) and Panhellenic Council to help foster the four main aspects of Greek life: scholarship, leadership, service, and sisterhood/brotherhood. Fraternities and sororities include the following: Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Omega Psi Phi, Kappa Alpha Psi, Delta Sigma Theta, Phi Beta Sigma, Zeta Phi Beta, Iota Phi Theta, and Sigma Gamma Rho.

STUDENT PROGRAMS

ISEC Academy

Intercultural Student Engagement Center (ISEC) Academy is a Western Kentucky University initiative/program to assist first-year students that identify as students of color (Black, Hispanic/Latin, Asian, Native American, Multiracial) and/or who are first generation, Pell eligible, and have some academic need with their transition, persistence, and graduation from Western Kentucky University.  This program is coordinated by the Intercultural Student Engagement Center.  We believe that students of color at Western Kentucky University are scholars who will achieve positive change in themselves, the WKU Community, and the world!
