The Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky’s Director Dr. Lynette Breedlove announced today that the school has been named a member of the CLASS Coalition, a new national association of principals and leaders from high-performing, admissions-based high schools. The Coalition is focused on helping students overcome challenges and gain the skills necessary to succeed after graduation.

“It is an honor to work with like-minded peers from prestigious schools across the nation,” said Breedlove. “We each strive to provide significant educational opportunities to prepare students for success in college and beyond. Joining with the CLASS Coalition allows us to advance innovative curriculum, structures, and policies to benefit students in schools across Kentucky and the U.S.”

CLASS Coalition Executive Director Todd Mann said, “The CLASS Coalition has the dual mission of promoting opportunities for low-income, high-achieving students while also exploring ways schools can better coordinate with the business community to strengthen the school-to-workforce pipeline. Each school and leader who has joined the Coalition has been carefully chosen based on their track record of success and dedication to advancing the CLASS mission, and The Gatton Academy is no exception.”

“By bringing some of the brightest schools and education leaders together, we can better identify and amplify the policies and practices that could help students, schools, and businesses across the country excel,” said CLASS Coalition president Crystal Bonds, who also serves as principal of the High School for Science, Math and Engineering at City College of New York. “We are excited to have The Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky on board, and look forward to tackling the challenges that lie ahead.”
