January 31, 2023 - Dr. Julia Roberts, Executive Director of The Center for Gifted Studies, will preside over the Proclamation Signing Ceremony designating February as Gifted Education Month in Kentucky on February 1 at 12 p.m EST. Hosted by The Kentucky Association for Gifted Education (KAGE), the ceremony brings together state legislators, representatives from gifted education advocacy groups, teachers, and students in the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort.
"This ceremony, featuring students and elected officials, is the perfect way to start Gifted Education Month,” said Executive Director of KAGE, Allison Mefford. “This event gives voice to the potential that exists for our Commonwealth when we embrace our gifted students and their educators."
In attendance will be Speaker of House David Osborne, Senate President Pro Tempore David Givens and Kentucky Department of Education Associate Commissioner Gretta Hylton. Students from The Gatton Academy and the Craft Academy will be speaking and performing, in addition to former KAGE scholarship recipients. School groups from Meade County. Jefferson County, Warren County and Walton Verona Independent School districts will be participating as well.
