Prufrock Press has released an updated edition of Teacher’s Survival Guide: Gifted Education (2nd ed.): A First-Year Teacher’s Introduction to Gifted Learners. This updated edition offers field-tested, proven strategies to beginning and early career educators ready to build their understanding of gifted learners.
The book is written by Dr. Julia Roberts, Executive Director of The Center for Gifted Studies at WKU and The Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science, and Julie Roberts Boggess M.A., M.S., an elementary librarian at Pearre Creek Elementary School in Williamson County, TN. Boggess holds three degrees from WKU.
In addition to sections on identifying giftedness, encouraging creativity, and developing talent, the book also offers a survival toolkit of resources designed to aid teachers as they begin their journey working with advanced learners.
Dr. Roberts teaches courses for the Gifted and Talented Endorsement, the Master of Arts in Education in Gifted Education and Talent Development, and the Educational Specialist degree in Gifted Education and Talent Development. Much of the insights and advice found in Teacher’s Survival Guide: Gifted Education are drawn from her work with teachers new to the field of gifted education.
Originally published in 2011, the new edition of Teachers’ Survival Guide: Gifted Education includes updated material that reflect the current standards in the field and current resources on a variety of topics.
