The Suwannee River is the major river that runs through Georgia and funnels into Florida. This area is known for its rich history and famous song “Old Folks At Home”, by Stephen Foster, which is now Florida’s state song. This historical river starts in the Okefenokee Swamp and travels 200 miles into Florida, eventually ending in the Gulf of Mexico. While canoeing this awesome river, keep an eye out for some epic wildlife - such as turtles, dragonflies, and snakes. ORAC will be canoeing down the Suwannee and camping alongside side the river for 3 nights 4 days. Spend the remainder of your trip trekking along the sandy beaches of Cumberland Island and experience backcountry beach camping for 2 nights. This will be a spring break to remember, come join ORAC as we embark on this journey together!
