The Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area preserve the Cumberland River and its tributaries in northeastern Tennessee and southeastern Kentucky. With more than 150 miles of trails, Big South Fork has wonderful explorations of scenic overlooks and its prominent feature, the river gorge. This region contains one of the highest concentrations of natural bridges in the eastern United States. From the river gorge with its magnificent bluffs to the natural arches and unusual hoodoos come experience this neat nature with ORAC for a memorable, exciting weekend stay under the stars!

Tentative Trip Itinerary

Saturday March 23rd:

  1. Meet early morning at Preston Center to pack up the van
  2. Depart Preston
  3. Arrive at trailhead
  4. Begin hiking trail!
  5. Go to cool lookout or another point of interest
  6. Set up camp, eat dinner, and settle in for the night under the stars
  7. Goodnight!

Sunday March 24th:

  1. Wake up!
  2. Pack up camp to begin hiking
  3. Hike rest of the trail, stop for lunch, and see some cool animals
  4. Hike out to van and pack up
  5. Depart for the return to Preston
  6. Arrive back at Preston in the evening

3. Enter your 800# (or 500# if a Preston Only Member) for the Member Number (even if you do not have a current membership!)

5. Once you have an account set up, click the Home Icon in the top left (the picture, not the actual home letters)
6. Click on Program Registration in the middle of the page!
7. Select ‘ORAC’ 
8. Select the trip you want! 
9. Add to Cart 
10. Continue to Cart 
11. This should take you to the Payment Summary Screen. Enter your payment info and hit Submit Payment. 
12. BAMM You're registered for a trip!

The mandatory captains meeting will be held on Tuesday March 19th at 4pm OR 7pm in the Preston Center Meeting Room. Each team must have one representative at one of these meetings in order to play.

Healthy Days is Western Kentucky University's student annual health fair where students can become more aware of their of their eight dimensions of wellness by participating in different activities offered at the fair! There will be chair massages, blood pressure screenings, wheelchair basketball, healthy snack demo and many more wellness activities!!!

*Part 1 and/or Part 2 of The Climbing Clinic Series must be attended and completed in order to partake in Part 3: Skill refresher & Climb party.

Join ORAC & The Challenge Course to learn or brush up on your climbing skills. This three series part clinic will help you establish the basics of rock wall climbing that can be easily transferable to more indoor climbing, or getting your hands on some real rock! You'll enjoy our easy-going environment that is best for learning, practicing and making memories. We hope to see you at the top of the wall March 13th, 20th, and 27th.

At Ben Hawes the trail system offers something for all skill levels! Including the old original wide-open double-track/maintenance roads, a new beginner-friendly Green single-track loop and a new more difficult Blue single-track loop. The purpose-built, double stack loop crosses the maintenance roads in several locations allowing you to explore many different variations of the 10-mile track. A unique feature to this trail is the spring wildflowers. The northern end of the park is covered in literally thousands of wildflowers making for a beautiful spring ride. Whether you’re a mountain bike junky or wanting to learn, Ben Hawes is the place for you, join us on this fun track for the ride of your life!
