Brooklyn Lile
Winner of the June Vinson Yeates Scholarship in American History
Brooklyn is from Glasgow, Kentucky and loves working on political campaigns! She is currently an intern for Charles Booker’s campaign for US Senate. In her first semester at WKU she took Dr. Minter’s Human Rights History course, which she absolutely loved. She has always had a passion for reading and writing, but this class also challenged her to critically think and explore history in a way she hadn’t before. Brooklyn’s favorite part of being a History/ Social Studies major has been the amazing connections with professors! She believes that WKU History professors are the best around, and feels it has been incredible to learn from such distinguished and passionate people. Brooklyn plans on graduating Spring 2022 and then going on to law school to prepare for a career in family law. She wants to work in child advocacy and towards improve inequities within child and family welfare. Eventually, Brooklyn would like to run for Family Court Judge or State Representative to have a more direct impact on reforming things like child custody, divorce, and foster care. Her favorite historical quote is from Eleanor Roosevelt: “There is no human being from whom we cannot learn something if we are interested enough to dig deep.”
Congratulations Brooklyn!
