Nick Rampulla
Winner of the Loro Family Memorial Award for Military History
Nick is from the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. His favorite hobby is playing video games, especially DOOM, and his favorite developer is ID Software. Nick plans to graduate in May 2021 after which he hopes to either to work in a museum or as a park ranger. He knows these plans are vague, but feels that as long as he has good co-workers and is surrounded by history, he will be happy. Nick knew he wanted to be a history major even before he came to college. One of his most influential mentors was his 10th grade history teacher, Mr. McGee, and he interned at the New York Historical Society in both the 10th and 12th grades. Those experiences cemented his love of history, and made him realize how much he loved working in a museum environment. Nick’s favorite part of being a history major has been getting to know all of his professors. He thinks a lot of students wrongly think that college professors are intimidating, but all the professors he has met since becoming a history major have been very kind and excellent mentors and he truly feels that every class he has taken has been important and meaningful to his growth in his chosen major. His favorite historical quote is from General George S. Patton Jr.: “Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory.”
Congratulations, Nick!
