MUSEUM WKU STUDENT DOCENTS
Student Docent Jobs
Every semester, the Museum hires current WKU students as docents. As a student campus job, students work around their class schedules and provide gallery security as well as exhibit information to patrons. Students are also trained to lead tours of the Museum for various age groups.
Students from a variety of majors and interests have worked as docents. Some aspire to future museum careers, while others do not. All students, however, speak highly of the experience they gain while at the Kentucky Museum.
When the Museum is hiring, the job will be listed on WKU’s Handshake platform. Students upload cover letters and resumes through the WKU Handshake system. The Museum hiring manager will reach out to students, based upon their availability, for in-person or virtual interviews.
Lorelei Frank, Student Docent
My favorite thing about working at the museum is the interaction with the public. I’m an extrovert, so I love meeting new people, and at the museum I meet people from all around. Also, working in the museum gives me a break from the stressful student-life.

Molly Shaddix, Student Docent
I love working at the museum because it is a way to connect the public with history in a personal way! I love the feeling of showing someone a new part of history and how Kentucky and Kentuckians have been a part of great movements. I also love this job and the way I have been able to meet so many new people, from visitors to my coworkers, I am in great company here.
