The Bristow Rosenwald School followed the same plan as the Rockfield school for a one-teacher school. The schoolhouse had a 22' x 30' classroom, two cloakrooms, and one community room. Schoolteachers between 1909 and 1918 included: Gertrude Young (1909-11); Blanche Carr (1912); Lester D. Martin (1913); Margarite Ewing (1914); Molly McCulloch (1915); Ruby Elkins (1916); Ollie Mae Speck (1917); and, Mary Lawrence (1918). Oak Grove's 24'x 36' structure was surrounded by "plenty" of trees. Improvements to the schoolhouse suggested in 1924 included a new floor and painting the inside of the building. In 1926, the county built a new Oakland School. The two-story structure had five classrooms, a library, auditorium, principal's office, lunch room and a basement.
