Communications and Marketing Staff

Alicia Carter graduated from WKU in May of 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations. She began her career as Marketing Director for Downing-McPeak Vision Centers, which is McPeak Vision Partners today. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing strategic marketing and communications for the ophthalmology practice as well as one-on-one community relations with referring doctors.

Carter came back to WKU as a staff member in August 2010 to serve as Marketing and Web Services Coordinator. She was named Manager of Marketing Strategy in July 2021 where she worked under the Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Brand Strategy managing institutional marketing and branding efforts along with the web strategy for WKU.

She was named Assistant Director of Media Relations in April 2025. Working under the Assistant Vice President for Strategic Communications and Media Relations, Carter assists in the strategy and management of university communications and media relations for WKU. 

Carter is a 2017 graduate of Leadership Bowling Green and is a former member of the American Marketing Association (AMA) of Bowling Green.
