PHUGAS is the student governance organization for all public health students -- undergraduate and graduate.  There is no fee or application to join; if you're a public health student, you're a PHUGAS!  We discuss and vote on different things relating to the programs, including policy, procedure, diversity, inclusion, and curriculum within PHUGAS, and then the two PHUGAS Presidents each have a vote in the joint MPH-BSPH meetings.  There are three different ways to be involved in PHUGAS:

  • Be an active member!  Come to meetings when you can; vote on everything!  We will do everything in our power to make sure online students and students who cannot attend meetings are still able to vote and have their ideas heard.
  • Be on a committee!  There are 4 committees that we need student representation on.  Their meeting times are not set, and most only meet once or twice per academic year.  Those committees are:
    1. Undergraduate Curriculum
    2. Graduate Curriculum
    3. Diversity & Inclusion
    4. Assessment
  • Run for office!  There are 4 officer positions.  Nominations for these positions are now open.  Email Sydney Clark (sydney.clark614@topper.wku.edu) with your nomination(s) or self-nomination.  For more information on these positions, see the bylaws.  Those officer positions are:
    1. Undergraduate President
    2. Graduate President
    3. Vice President
    4. Secretary

Meetings:

Monday, September 9th at1pm

 Wednesday, October 9th at 12pm

Presidents' Additional Meetings:

The Undergraduate and Graduate Presidents are also expected to attend the Joint MPH-BSPH meetings, as they each have a vote to represent PHUGAS.  For a list of those meetings, click here.
