The College of Health and Human Services is proud to announce that The School of Nursing and Allied Health at WKU has received a $256,595.00 grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the Advanced Education Nursing Grant Program.
This is the third year of the four-year, $816,124 project, which will directly support the Advanced Nursing Education Workforce. The grant funding provides support for student tuition, books, and stipends. The objective of this project is to address substance abuse disorder and telehealth in nurse practitioner training at WKU, which will increase readiness to practice.
"Funding from this traineeship grant has enabled the School of Nursing and Allied Health to support family and psychiatric nurse practitioner students across Kentucky and Tennessee." Said Dr. Eve Main, WKU Professor, and DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) Program Coordinator. "Many of these students are now practicing in rural and medically underserved areas."
