Gender & Women's Studies WKLT Summer Camp Giving
Giving to Women & Kids Learning Together
TJ Shockley-Hunt, Director of REACH Higher Program
Grant funds will be used to provide a week-long learning experience for low-income and under-educated women and children in Warren and neighboring counties. On Western Kentucky University's campus, participants will participate in workshops and team building activities that incorporate the arts, creativity, self-expression, and that will enhance self-esteem and increase awareness about the community and civic engagement.
Women who participate in the Camp will be those who qualify for food stamps, Medicaid, welfare, or who live below the poverty line. The Bowling Green Housing Authority will recommend women from their Reach Higher program (a welfare-to-work program) and our Selection Committee will ensure diversity among the women selected.
Because WKLT must be free to participants, we seek funding from sponsors who are committed to improving the lives of low-income and under-educated women and their children. If you are interested in giving to WKLT, please contact Jane Olmsted.
