The flurry of activity on campus each day serves as a clear reminder of our collective and cooperative mission to guide and support our students as they persist toward graduation and beyond.  This campus has prepared students for success since 1906, and thanks to the efforts of our extraordinary faculty and staff, we continually build upon that tremendous legacy.  Following is an update on two of our important student-centered initiatives.
 
The Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL)
This February, CITL is offering a Professional Learning Community (PLC) that introduces faculty to Project-Based Learning.  A group of no more than fifteen faculty participants will learn about the basics of project-based learning and embedding learner-centered, project-based experiences into their courses.  There will be three in-person meetings over the course of the Spring semester. Registration deadline is Friday, February 15. The first in-person meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 27.

Comprehensive Academic Program Review (CAPE)
On January 31st our University-wide CAPE Committee engaged with area leaders representing various industries throughout our community.  The community leaders provided valuable insight concerning the competencies, skill sets, and overall qualities they look for in our graduates as well as their thoughts on how best WKU may continue preparing our students for beginning careers.  College-level CAPE recommendations are complete, and our University-wide CAPE committee will continue their important work throughout the month of February.  For more information about the CAPE process, please visit our website at https://www.wku.edu/academicaffairs/cape/cape.php.
