- Thursday, March 6th, 2025

Nashville, TN- Students from the Gordon Ford College of Business (GFCB) at WKU recently embarked on the annual Career Trek, a multi-day trip designed to connect students with industry professionals and alumni. This year’s journey took students to Nashville, TN, where they visited top companies and gained valuable insights into various career paths.
The Career Trek began with an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans, courtesy of WKU alumna Ashton Marcum and Colleen Coomes. Students also connected with WKU alumni Steve Mason and Heather Vincent and their team at Bank of America. Throughout the trip, students engaged with professionals from HCA Healthcare, including alumna Lynda Ratliff, as well as Emily Garrett and her team from Ernst & Young, and representatives from Deloitte.
“Career Trek is an invaluable opportunity offered by GFCB to our students. From the moment they step into our vans, networking begins — with peers, alumni, and business professionals during employer visits, said Monica Duvall, Director of Student Success. “ Our trip to Nashville was an incredible experience, filled with meaningful connections and insights. Students engaged in panel discussions across various departments explored unfamiliar industries, went behind the scenes of the NFL, toured corporate offices, and absorbed every piece of advice shared with them. This year’s participants were engaged, curious, and respectful, showcasing exceptional professionalism and proudly representing WKU and GFCB.”
The Career Trek is an annual initiative by the GFCB to bridge the gap between academics and industry. By engaging with professionals in their respective fields, students expand their networks, gain career insights, and develop a deeper understanding of the skills needed for success within the business world.
