- Wednesday, March 2nd, 2016
The Gordon Ford College of Business (GFCB) is among an elite group of business schools throughout the world to be recognized for excellence in business education by its accreditation in business and accounting through AACSB International (Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business). The efforts of the college’s faculty, staff, students, as well as the successes of its graduates, are being recognized among premier business programs and the academic organizations that identify those programs such as Beta Gamma Sigma.
Gordon Ford College of Business Dean Jeff Katz was recently elected to serve on the Board of Governors of Beta Gamma Sigma and also currently serves as the President of the MidAmerican Business Deans Association.
Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is considered the highest honor that can be received by a student attending a business program accredited by AACSB International. The mission of the organization is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business, to foster personal and professional excellence, to advance the values of society, and to serve its lifelong members.
“The election of Dean Katz to the Board of Governors of Beta Gamma Sigma is a testament to the quality of the programs at the Gordon Ford College of Business and his leadership amongst his peers,” said Christina Carosella, Chief Executive Officer of Beta Gamma Sigma. “Dean Katz is an innovative thought leader in business education and we are proud to welcome him to our Board.”
Chartered in 1983, the Gordon Ford College of Business Beta Gamma Sigma chapter extends invitations annually to the top 10 percent of current juniors and seniors, as well as the top 20 percent of graduate students. The chapter provides scholarship and leadership opportunities for its members. Dean Katz is one of 12 corporate and academic representatives worldwide elected to serve a term on the BGS Board of Governors. The Board functions as a board of directors, providing oversight for Beta Gamma Sigma between its biennial conventions.
“It is a direct reflection on the world-class faculty and dedicated students of the Gordon Ford College of Business that I have been asked to serve by our regional business deans association as its President and to be elected to the board of the premier academic honor society of business education,” said Dean Katz.” “The innovations developed and implemented by the faculty of our college that directly enhance and support the life-long success of our students have received awards for their uniqueness. It is simply our vision to be the best applied college of business in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and beyond.”
“We are honored that Dean Katz has been appointed to the Board of Governors for Beta Gamma Sigma,” said Dr. Dawn Bolton, one of the faculty advisors for the organization. “It demonstrates that our peers at fellow AACSB-accredited institutions value his leadership and his engagement in business education.”
The Gordon Ford College of Business is a top business school with dual AACSB accreditation in both business and accounting programs.
