Three student teams from WKU placed in the regional competition for Idea State U, a statewide business plan competition designed to encourage innovation among college students, and earned a total of $1750 to assist in launching their business ventures.

Grant Steier placed second in the Business Plan track and earned $750 towards his business, Maintenance Mayhem Solutions.

"Attending and competing in the Regional State U Business Plan Competition is perfect for an aspiring entrepreneur -- providing new connections while learning how to write a business plan and receiving experience pitching to potential investors," Steier said.

Ashley White placed in third and earned $500 towards her business, Adored Events by Ashley.

Chandler Smith and Jamie Harvener placed in third in the Business Model track and earned $500 towards their business, Capitol Cinema.

All three student teams will be advancing to the state level of the competition that will be held on April 22, in Lexington, KY.

“Words cannot express how proud I am of our student teams that competed” states Dr. Dawn Bolton, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation.  “These students spent many hours writing their plans, shooting videos, creating posters, and preparing presentations – all in addition to their classwork, jobs, and student life!”
