April Foster, founder and CEO of INKED of Bowling Green, spoke at the Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation’s first Entrepreneur Speaker Series Event of the Fall Semester on Tuesday September 20, at 4 p.m in Grise Hall 240.

Foster shared her story of how she transitioned from working in the corporate world to becoming an entrepreneur. She focused on four things that she believed helped her launch and grow her business to the 7^th fastest growing business in Kentucky.

Foster suggested that students gain as much “real world” experience as possible, pay attention to customers and mistakes, work hard, and maintain a good attitude, even when a mistake has been made.

Students had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss their ideas with Foster one-on-one. Katie Norman, major in Business Administration said, “I took away from April’s talk that anyone can be an entrepreneur if they have passion and attitude. I also appreciated that she said the biggest mistake you can make is trying to cover up a mistake. Accept the mistake and fix it. I feel like I can apply that to anything in life.”

Whitney Peake, Vitale Professor of Entrepreneurship said, “We are so excited to have an alumna come back to WKU to share her success story and advice with students. I know they came away with valuable knowledge, whether they plan to go to work for someone else or start their own business.”
