- Monday, October 3rd, 2016
Members of the Gordon Ford College of Business Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation assisted South Warren Middle School technology teacher Anthony Spires during his annual Spartan Tank Pitch Competition on September 30.
Spires’ students presented their business pitches to Dr. Whitney Peake, Vitale Professor of Entrepreneurship for the Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, and a group of WKU students. Student judges included Entrepreneurship majors Jason Utley and Michael Schilling, along with minor Kendra Mitchell and Management major, Jacob Monin. All four WKU students are currently enrolled in a WKU business planning course.
"You can tell from the students' work that he is a great teacher who pushes his students to think creatively and put that creativity to work," said Peake.
"Mr. Spires is a phenomenal teacher," said Schilling. "His eighth grade students were very prepared and impressive presenters."
The Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation in the WKU Gordon Ford College of Business works with entrepreneurial students through various activities. “I always look forward to these types of events, because it’s great for us and our students to get involved in the community and see what folks are doing. It validates that what we’re doing matters,” says Peake.
The Gordon Ford College of Business is a top business school with dual AACSB accreditation in both business and accounting programs.
