College of Business HR Curriculum Aligns With SHRM
- Wednesday, May 24th, 2017
The Gordon Ford College of Business’ Human Resource Management degree track has renewed its alignment with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)’s HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates.
The College of Business is one of 338 institutions worldwide that has been acknowledged by SHRM as being in alignment with its standards.
“Since SHRM is a professional organization, it gives us guidance on what skills HR professionals need to have in order to be successful,” said Dr. LeAnne Coder, Associate Professor of Management. “It lets employers that hire our graduates know that the person they are hiring will have the skills necessary to perform well for the organization.”
There are approximately 100 students in the HRM program.
“As an applied College of Business, the links to professional practice in the areas we teach are of tremendous benefit to our students and their future employers,” said Dr. Jeffrey Katz, Dean of the Gordon Ford College of Business.
The HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates were created in 2006 and serve as the organization’s Academic Initiative to define HR standards and help universities develop degree programs that follow these standards. The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) was founded in 1948 and is the world’s largest HR membership organization representing more than 285,000 members in 165 countries. SHRM is the leading provider of resources to serve the needs of HR professionals and advance the practice of human resource management.
The Gordon Ford College of Business is a top business school with dual AACSB accreditation in both business and accounting programs.
