Meet the Firms Returns To Campus
- Friday, September 10th, 2021
Meet the Firms, an annual event hosted by the Department of Accounting and the Beta Alpha Psi honor society returns in person. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the 2020 event was virtual, but it returned at the Knicely Conference Center this year. More than 50 accounting students met with 14 firms and organizations to network and discuss internship and employment opportunities.
Beta Alpha Psi President, Hannah Boucher says, Meet the Firms is an excellent opportunity for students to get their foot in the door at various firms. Boucher remembers what it was like attending her first Meet the Firm event as a sophomore, “I came in as an anxious student who had no idea what tax and audit even were. But, when the event was over, I was so proud of myself for even attending. I learned that there were so many paths I could take, and I was encouraged by that. Then, about a week later, I received an email from one of the firms offering me an interview for an internship.”
Boucher ended up landing that firm's internship. She says, each student that attended will gain something from Meet the Firms: confidence, experience, knowledge, an internship, or a connection.
The following firms/companies were in attendance: Hensley and Throneberry, Logan Aluminum, Fruit of the Loom Inc., Blue & Co., Harding Shymanski & Company, Kraft CPAs, Blythe CPAs and Advisors, Tennessee Department of Treasury, BKD CPAs and Advisors, Carr Riggs & Ingram, Puryear & Noona CPAs, TN Comptroller of the Treasury, Davis Brown & Company PLLC, Jones Nale & Mattingly PLC.
