Cluster Facilitators

M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan Cluster Facilitators deliver engaging and vital content (provided) to groups of approximately 25-30 M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan participants. Sessions include topics that may not come up in regular classes, like personal goal setting, how to meet new people and make friends in college, how to get involved in campus life, and how to utilize campus resources (Financial Aid, Blackboard, bus routes, Topnet. etc.).

Serving as a Cluster Facilitator provides an opportunity to engage in institutional service, develop relationships with new students, and aide in their transition and retention to WKU.

As a M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan Cluster Facilitator, you would be expected to:

  • Commit 6 hours (three (3) two-hour blocks of time) over three days (Wed. 8/14, Thurs. 8/15, & Fri. 8/16) to facilitate activities and deliver provided content

  • Attend a four-hour in-person training at DSU on August 1 8:30am-12:30pm OR a four-hour virtual training on August 7 from 8:30am-12:30pm

Dr. Daniel Super
Director, Kelly M. Burch Institute for Practices in Higher Education

I've always loved this University and this campus. What could be better than helping incoming freshmen see in WKU what I see? Building relationships with students during M.A.S.T.E.R. plan and helping them navigate a potentially stressful transition to college is not only helpful for them but has always been fun for me.

Dr. Wren Mills
Assistant Professor, Organizational Leadership

Being a cluster facilitator for M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan has always been a rewarding experience. For the past three years, I've been able to meet the students in my Living Learning Community and start building relationships with them before our class even meets. I cannot emphasize how much that has made a difference for both me as an LLC Fellow and our LLC participants!

Ameila Kolb
Assistant Director of Student Activities- Leadership & Volunteerism

Serving as a M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan Cluster facilitator is an opportunity to influence Hilltoppers as soon as they arrive to WKU. As a Cluster Facilitator, you have a unique experience of offering advice to our incoming students and sharing all the things “you wished students would know before classes begin.” I have loved my experiences as a Cluster facilitator and recommend it to any faculty or staff on the hill.

Crystal Bohlander
Mahurin Honors College

Acting as a M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan facilitator is one of my favorite ways to start the new academic year! I feel like I can connect with scholars and set a collaborative tone before classes start. Highly recommend!

Amy Wininger
College of Health & Human Services (CHHS) Wellness Navigator

The energy at M.A.S.T.E.R Plan is palpable. Veteran Hilltoppers share WKU traditions and tips for success in a fun environment. This week of connection and easing into campus life is invaluable.
