Biography

Courtney Calvert is a clarinetist and private studio teacher in the Bowling Green area. She graduated summa cum laude and Scholar of the Potter College from Western Kentucky University in 2010 with a Bachelor’s in Music Education degree. In 2015, she completed her Master’s of Music degree from WKU also graduating summa cum laude. She has performed as principal clarinetist of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Orchestra and the Kentucky Intercollegiate Band as well as served as principal clarinetist of the various ensembles and orchestra of Western Kentucky University. She is a Governor’s School for the Arts alumni, an all-state (Symphonic Band and Orchestra) musician and a principal clarinetist of various honors bands and clinics. Her primary teachers were Dr. John Cipolla and Dr. John C. Carmichael.


For over 15 years, Courtney has led a thriving and successful clarinet studio in the area.
Students from her studio have auditioned and placed first in many ensembles at the local, state and national levels performing in the Kentucky Music Educators Association ensembles, Music Teachers National Association competitions and the Governor’s School for the Arts Programs. She also hosts annual studio recitals for her performing students. Many of her students have graduated and continued to study at the collegiate level and beyond.


Residing in Bowling Green with her husband, Grant, and two children, Courtney enjoys
practicing and teaching clarinet, gardening, homeschooling her children, reading and spending time with her family.
