Steel Band

The WKU Steelband was formed by Dr. Berry in the fall of 2004. The ensemble provides students the opportunity to learn steelband repertoire and steelpan performing techniques in a variety of Caribbean and Latin American music styles, including calypso, soca, ska, reggae, and salsa. Students also learn drumset and auxiliary percussion skills that are musically appropriate within these styles. The group presents concerts throughout the year.
