Project GO (Project Global Officer), launched in 2007 as part of the Defense Language Transformation Roadmap, provides scholarships for ROTC students nationwide to study critical languages such as Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, and Swahili. Initially piloted at just four universities, the program expanded to eight more institutions in 2008, adapting to ROTC students' needs with summer language training and overseas opportunities.

WKU Project GO offers ROTC students nationwide unique benefits: Career Advantages through fluency in Mandarin Chinese, opening doors to specialized roles and leadership opportunities in the military and beyond; Financial Perks, with stipends ranging from $100 to $250 per month for language courses, and potential earnings of up to $1,000 a month post-graduation based on proficiency; and a Fully Funded Study Abroad experience in Taiwan, where students spend 8 weeks immersing themselves in the language and culture through classes, tutoring, and cultural excursions.
