WKU School of Media earns ACEJMC reaccreditation

Western Kentucky University’s School of Media earned reaccreditation this month from the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC).
WKU School of Media bachelor’s programs included in the reaccreditation review were journalism, broadcasting and photojournalism.
A site team, composed of faculty from other ACEJMC-accredited universities, visited campus in January. The ACEJMC met April 28 in Chicago and voted 19-0 that the School of Media receive reaccreditation.
WKU is one of three universities in Kentucky with ACEJMC-accredited programs and is among 119 nationwide. Accreditation evaluations normally are made by ACEJMC at six-year intervals. WKU first earned ACEJMC accreditation in 1979.
On July 1, a merger of the School of Media and the Department of Communication will become official. The School of Media & Communication will include Journalism, Photojournalism, Broadcasting, Film, Advertising, Public Relations, Corporate & Organizational Communication, and Communication Studies.

The School of Media & Communication at WKU is ACEJMC accredited for majors in Broadcasting, Journalism and Visual Journalism & Photography.
