Adrienne Nixon
WKU Theatre and Dance Alum
Louisville designer Adrienne Nixon began sewing and making art at a young age. That interest carried over into a passion and she is now a versatile designer and sewist whose background includes theatre, dance, millinery and fashion. From running wardrobe for operas in Rome to stitching Shakespearean costumes in the Berkshires, Adrienne's work has taken her to many new and engaging places. Adrienne attended Western Kentucky University where she earned her BFA- Performing Arts: Theatre Design and Technology with a concentration in Costume Design. In her four years there she gained knowledge through classes, first hand experience working on shows, as well as working in the department's costume shop as an employee.
Post graduation, Adrienne relocated to Louisville, KY, after accepting a job with Actor's Theatre of Louisville. She spent three years there working as a Costume Construction Journeyman as well as a Costume Design Assistant. From there Adrienne branched out into the community and began working for a local millinery shop, The Mysterious Rack. Currently, Adrienne is the Production Manager for a sustainable clothing company, The New Blak, and does freelance design under the name Sasscat Creative. Her most recent work includes her design "Supernova" as part of KMAC Couture's 2020 runway documentary "Star Stuff".
