The WKU Department of Theatre & Dance is pleased to announce
The Fisherman and His Wife
By Larry and Vivian Snipes
Touring to area schools, October 16th – November 29th, 2018
Remember the tale of the fisherman who catches an enchanted fish and uses his three wishes (and hers) to try to bring happiness to his wife? This delightful adaptation taps into the magic of audience participation. Your students will help tell the story through sound effects, scenery and even walk-on parts. As the fish grants the fisherman's wife's spiraling wishes, the audience creates sea and storms, goes fishing, and becomes chickens and ducks in the farmyard and servants in the magnificent castle the fish provides for the fisherman's wife. Full of action, comedy and wonderful life lessons, this is a play sure to delight! (Suitable for all ages. Approximate running time: 50 minutes.)
As an added bonus, your school will be emailed a study guide prior to the performance. Created by the authors, the study guide emphasizes pre- and post-performance activities that focus on the aesthetic, kinesthetic, spatial, musical and interpersonal intelligences as well as suggestions for logical and linguistic projects. A post-performance creative dramatics workshop is also available for a very reasonable additional fee of $60. Our director and performers will lead your students through a fun, educational and participatory drama workshop up to one-hour in length.
This touring production of The Fisherman and His Wife will be available beginning
Tuesday, October 16th and will run through Thursday, November 29th, excluding Thanksgiving
(November 22nd). We will be available to perform on Tuesday and Thursday mornings
between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Our schedule fills up quickly, so
book early! Our charge is $240 for shows within Warren County and $270 for shows in
