Costume Shop & Costume Facilities
The Main Shop
The WKU Costume Shop is situated in rooms 306A & 307 on the third floor of The Ivan Wilson Center for Fine Arts. The shop consists of three rooms: the main workroom, an office with fitting areas, and a laundry & craft space.
The main work room is equipped with eight domestic Bernina sewing machines and two industrial sewing machines, two domestic overlock machines, a cover-stitch machine and an industrial iron.
The dress forms in the shop range in size from 6-20 female and 38-50 male.
Office and Fitting Areas
The Office is connected to the main shop and contains the shop supervisor's desk area, two student computers, Internet access, a lounge area, and the fitting room. This space also holds seven large storage cabinets containing shop supplies, fabric storage, and garment racks for current shows.
Laundry and Craft Room
Located behind the costume shop is the craft room and laundry area. This room contains two washing machines (one for dye projects, one for laundry), one dryer, a dye vat and ventilation hood, and a craft work area. Shelving and cabinets contain all laundry, wardrobe, dye, craft, and safety supplies. All flammable supplies are stored in the departmental Flammables Cabinet located in the Prop Shop
Dressing Rooms
Russell Miller Theatre:
Russell Miller Theatre is a proscenium theatre which accommodates 296 audience members
and serves as the Mainstage for WKU Theatre & Dance productions. It is located on
the second floor of The Ivan Wilson Center for the Fine Arts. The dressing rooms for
the theatre are located on the first floor and serve 30 actors, as well as Wardrobe
& Makeup crews.

Van Meter Auditorium:
Van Meter Auditorium is a proscenium theatre which accommodates 1,068 audience members.
The dressing rooms for the theatre are located on the second floor and serve over
40 actors, as well as Wardrobe & Makeup crews.
Costume Storage
Costume Storage is located on the second floor of Gordon Wilson Hall. The main room is divided between men's and women's twentieth century clothing, dance wear, and accessories. The second large room is home to men's and women's period clothing, ethnic & fantasy costumes, uniforms, armor, robes and hats. We also store men’s shoes, women's shoes, period undergarments and body padding, wigs and purses, and we have special storage for delicate vintage garments.
The Costume Shop has a staff of student employees who work with the Costume Designer
and Costume Shop Manager to create all the costumes seen on WKU's stages. if you are interested in being involved in costume design or construction, please
