Beta Alpha Psi Wins Big at Annual Conference
- Wednesday, August 9th, 2023
Western Kentucky University's Eta Omicron Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi is named a Gold Chapter at the organization's Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The award required that the chapter submit a video displaying this past year's accomplishments. The achievements included actively choosing projects and educational topics that members were passionate about. Some of the service projects BAP participated in were a supply drive for the LGBTQIA+ community, a food drive to combat campus food insecurity, and running the books for an organization that supports the refugee population. The award represents the highest award a chapter can receive.
Beta Alpha Psi's President, Alyssa Gorman, was also awarded the AICPA Medal of Inspiration. The award is a high honor and given to only one member yearly. To qualify for the award, a student must have experienced extreme hardship while pursuing their education and demonstrate an unusually high level of success despite that adversity or do something particularly inspirational in their lives that had a tremendous impact on someone else's life.
Alyssa said she is grateful for the opportunities presented to her and has a newfound sense of self and confidence. "Beta Alpha Psi has been a huge stepping stone for me not only in my college and professional life but also personally. This is one of those organizations where I felt I was a part of something bigger than myself. It has allowed me to give back to the department, our campus, and the Bowling Green community."
Last year, Alyssa was the Vice President of Community Service BAP and 2022 Co-Chair for BAP's DEI week. She coordinated all the BAP supply drives and assisted with a local nonprofit's bookkeeping.
Alyssa, Kaysten Thomas, Kailee Quinsenberry, and Beta Alpha Psi Advisor Heather Glass represented the organization at the Annual Meeting.
