Students in MGT 313, Decision-modeling flexed their “Human Resources MentalMuscle” in the fall semester, by working with local technology company hitcentson an evaluation of OMNI-PRISE, a newly-developed Human Resource InformationSystem. The students collaborated with company representatives to develop acomprehensive review of the human resources tools, including an evaluation of userfunctionality and usability. In addition, the students created 30+ human resourcesmetrics reports for incorporation into the software.
The students reported their findings in a formal presentation on December 12 tocompany President, Chris Mills, Chief Financial Officer, Ed Mills, Sales Executive,Steve Turney and Sales Engineer, David Learned. According to CFO Ed Mills, “Weare quite impressed with the work of the WKU team. We would like to continuea partnership with Dr. Cosby and her class for standing projects such as this eachsemester.”
Graduating Senior Lacey Clark, added, “Working with a real organization, instead ofusing a computer simulation like many of my past classes had done, has truly beenhelpful in learning what the real workforce is like. I was faced with challenges thatI hadn’t known would arise, but was still in a classroom setting where I could askquestions and seek aid. To work on a project like this during my final semester, asa student at WKU is the best realistic job preview I could have had. The Omnipriseteam, as well my fellow classmates and me, are better off from participating in sucha partnership.”
