Gordon Ford College of Business (GFCB) students received national recognition for their outstanding consulting work at the 2024–2025 Small Business Institute (SBI) Conference in New Orleans.
Representing the Hilltopper Student Consulting Experience, the teams distinguished themselves in the SBI Experiential Learning Project of the Year Competition for their innovative, client-focused business solutions.
The winning projects originated from ENT 496, a course led by Dr. Whitney Peake, Chair of the Department of Management. Each spring, students collaborate with local small businesses and nonprofits to analyze operations, identify opportunities, and deliver strategic recommendations.
The Kentucky Science Center Team claimed 1st place in the Undergraduate Feasibility/Comprehensive category. Team members included Chase Claymier, Drew Ericson, Andrew Trapp, Ethan Herman, Jonathan Roberts, and Kate Smith.
The Feel-Good Food Team secured 3rd place in the Undergraduate Specialized category. The client was Rachel Gonzalez. Team members included Rachel Gonzalez, Grace Evans, Taylor Greulich, Maura Lamberth, Anthony Lashley, Skylar Latham, and Hunter Robinson.
Additionally, Dr. Mariah Yates, Associate Professor of Management, earned one of two Paul Dunn Memorial Scholarships for her presentation, “Fearless Leadership and Entrepreneurial Mindsets: Teaching Innovation through Taylor Swift’s Influence.” The award will support her participation in the 2025 conference in Fort Myers, Florida.
These national honors reflect GFCB’s unwavering commitment to high-impact, hands-on learning. Congratulations to our outstanding students, dedicated faculty, and community partners for once again raising the bar on a national stage.
