Beginning this fall, Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) students have an online option to expand their education to include a bachelor of science in management, business administration track. The new Plus 2 Business Administration Online Option, available through the WKU Gordon Ford College of Business, is specifically designed for students who have completed an AAS or associate degree through KCTCS.

The College collaborated with WKU Academic Outreach to create a webinar for students and found that there was a significant amount of interest in the program. “We wanted to create a business administration program geared toward KCTCS students who want to build upon their existing associate degree,” said Dr. Zubair Mohamed, WKU Department of Management chair who developed the online program. “The Plus 2 program is exciting because it provides a convenient way for students to meet their academic goals.”

Coursework is designed to prepare students for a career in business and management and includes accounting, computer information systems, economics, finance, management and marketing. A combined total of 120 credit hours, including 42 hours of upper-division level coursework, is required. Students can choose a full-time or part-time schedule.

Students can complete coursework in as little as two years or take longer if they need more time. The program is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a distinction that less than 5 percent of the 13,000 business programs can claim. According the AACSB, accredited programs offer more relevant, challenging curriculum and higher quality educational and career opportunities.

According to Coordinator of Undergraduate Student Services Dr. Pat Jordan, the new 100 percent online option is especially appealing to nontraditional students. “This program not only offers a high-quality business program, but it also helps them fit coursework into their busy schedules,” Jordan said. “It’s a perfect fit for students who want to continue their education but have other responsibilities such as a job and a family.”

KCTCS students with a cumulative transfer GPA of at least 3.25 are eligible for a $4,000 scholarship if attending full time. The scholarship can be renewed for up to two academic years for students who maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA.
