The WKU chapter of the Omicron Delta Epsilon International Honor Society in Economics initiated 22 students and one business leader during its annual initiation banquet held Friday, April 6.

These initiates join college students in 678 chapters across the world in recognition of scholastic attainment in economics. Students who are invited to membership in ODE must have completed 12 credit hours of economics courses, have attained a 3.0 GPA or better in those economics courses, and have an overall 3.0 GPA.

Jim Finn, retired Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Automatic Data Processing (ADP), provided practical applications of economic thought to the audience. Finn received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the WKU Department of Economics. Finn, who currently resides in Southlake, Texas, also receives an honorary initiation into the honor society.

“Qualifying for and accepting membership in ODE is a way students can reward themselves for their own hard work and dedication in their studies,” said Dr. Cathy Carey, Chair of the Department of Economics.  “It also tells employers and graduate schools that these students are at the top of their class.”
