WKU’s ENACTUS team advanced to the National Convention to be held in Kansas City in May after being named a regional champion on Monday, April 9. 

The team competed in Chicago against universities from across the South-Eastern Region showcasing its four entrepreneurial projects: Bowling Green Night Market, Inventory Solutions, Job Bus, and Bowling Green Angels. Additionally, ENACTUS team members received six interview offers from competition sponsors, as well as two full-time job offers, including a Manager-in-Training position from Sam’s Club.

The Bowling Green Night Market is a place to connect entrepreneurs to customers. The team’s 11 markets have usedunderutilized space during the nighttime hours. To find out more information about upcoming markets, visit bgnightmarket.com. Inventory Solutions helps HOTEL, INC., which provides transition assistance for those in need, to keep its food pantry at optimum levels. The Job Bus project is an initiative to provide transportation to help solve chronic unemployment for Bowling Green area manufacturing. Lastly, the Bowling Green Angels project connects entrepreneurs to angel investors in the Bowling Green community.

”The ENACTUS student team highlights the applied nature of the Gordon Ford College of Business curriculum,” said Dean Jeff Katz. “They are getting outside the walls of Grise Hall to use their business knowledge to impact the community in positive ways. Being recognized as regional champions for their dedication and creativity is evidence of the hard work they have put into these projects over the years.” 

Michael Harrell, Anne Holden, Dylan Perry, Kate Ngo, Bryan Nelson, Emily Peck, Hope Thompson, Mackenzie Mills, Alyssa Chan, Cameron Aitken, Jacob Stevenson, Ryan Cobb, Emily Davidson, Rebekah Lim, Collette Jolley, Alexander Miller, and Nathaniel Oates attended as part of the student ENACTUS Team. Faculty advisor J. Krist Schell, Executive in Residence for the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and mentor Dr. Evelyn Thrasher from the Departmenot of Information Systems accompanied the Team.

“I am incredibly proud of the team for its continued dedication to entrepreneurial action by getting stuff done,“ said Anne Holden, WKU Enactus Chief Operating Officer.

WKU ENACTUS is part of the worldwide ENACTUS movement, which solves local, regional, and global problems through the positive power of entrepreneurship. The team is sponsored by the Gordon Ford College of Business and the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and has been an active student organization since 2003. WKU ENACTUS meets every Monday during the academic year at 5 p.m., in Grise Hall 238.
