Professional academic advising services provided by WKU’s Gordon Ford College of Business (GFCB) is not only recognized as a Best Practice by the Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business (AACSB) but one of many student-centered resources that has allowed the College to recruit and retain record numbers of students over the past five years. Recent changes to the professional advising structure will only enhance the student-centered focus of the GFCB.
Students in their freshmen and sophomore years will complete their academic advising with three advisors housed in the Advising and Career Development Center (ACDC). Marissa Bryant, Ashley Smith, and Fallon Willoughby are the three academic advisors serving alongside Adrianne Browning, who is the GFCB Career Development Specialist. These four ladies form a “pod,” where College of Business students receive specific advice and counseling respective to their business major and their future business career.
Four academic advisors housed in Grise Hall will primarily serve the junior, senior, and online MBA student populations. Dr. Pat Jordan serves as the Coordinator of Undergraduate Student Services with Lisa Hampton, Sandy Patterson, and Janie Pruitt serving as academic advisors.
The partnership between the Gordon Ford College of Business and the Advising and Career Development Center ensures that business students are provided with a caring, collaborative community that will help them gain the knowledge, understanding, and skills needed for success.
“We are committed to fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for students that will provide the resources and connections they need to leave WKU and enter their respective communities as contributing and successful citizens,” said Dr. Jordan.
The Gordon Ford College of Business is a top business school with dual AACSB accreditation in both business and accounting programs.
