Retirement from WKU

Retiree Benefits


Retirees should take their current WKU Employee Identification Card to the ID Center and exchange it for a “Retiree” card which gives them access to many of the campus privileges afforded regular faculty and staff.
Retiree e-mail accounts will remain active and available for use by the retiree upon retirement provided the account is accessed every six months.
Retirees who have not returned to regular employment can purchase a “Retiree” Parking Permit which is equivalent to a Non-Premium Parking Permit.
Retirees are eligible to purchase items from any WKU Bookstore at the prevailing employee discount with a “Retiree” ID Card.
Retirees are eligible to access all library services afforded regular full-time faculty and staff with their “Retiree” ID Card.
Retirees may purchase tickets to all
University athletic events at the prevailing employee discount rate. For more information call the ticket office at 745-5222.
The Preston Center offers membership to
WKU Retirees, their spouse, children and grandchildren at a discounted rate as well as Preston Center Guest Passes.
Retirees may continue to participate in the Tuition Waiver Program while undertaking coursework at any public Kentucky university or college. (HR Policy 4.6501)
Spouse and/or qualified dependents of retirees may qualify for a tuition discount while undertaking coursework at WKU. (HR Policy 4.6603)
Retirees are eligible to apply for internal research grants, and continue using the University as an agent for external grant applications through the Office of Sponsored Programs.
Emeritus/a Faculty may attend meetings of the
University Senate. (AA Policy 1.1032)
Emeritus/a Faculty may participate in University academic processions and ceremonial
events. (AA Policy 1.1032)
