Dr. Gupta Receives 2018 WKU WISE Award

Dr. Sanju Gupta, Associate Professor of Physics, was presented with the 4th annual WKU Women In Science and Engineering (WISE) award at the Spring 2018 opening meeting for Ogden College of Science and Engineering. WKU WISE is an Ogden College organization that promotes and facilitates achievement for women in academic STEM careers through community and success strategies. A faculty committee selected Dr. Gupta for the award feeling she serves as an excellent mentor for all students in the College and particularly for young women with an interest in Science and Engineering.
Dr. Gupta earned her B.S., M.S., M.E., and Ph.D degrees, all in Physics and related disciplines including Solid-State Material Physics, Laser Technology and Chemical Physics. She arrived at WKU in 2013 after post-doctoral experience and research associate positions at Cambridge University, NC State, University of Missouri and University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Gupta’s current research is in the general area of nanotechnology and more specifically, graphene and graphene-related nanomaterials that have diverse applications as in alternative energy, electrochemical energy conversion and storage, large-area membranes for water nanofiltration and desalination and advanced sensing platforms. Dr. Gupta has over 25 published papers since her arrival and well over 100 in her career. Dr. Gupta and her students have made over 140 presentations (oral and poster) in her 4+ years at WKU.
