Lights, Camera, and Physics
- Can airplane surfaces be more efficient?
- Can we find cost effective ways to produce Hydrogen?
- Could light be used to destroy harmful bacteria and virus?
Dr. Ali Er and his students are addressing these questions and others using high powered pulsed laser systems here at WKU. Working with colleagues at the NASA and University of Kentucky, and Dr. Er's group is investigating imprinting patterns on airplane surface using high powered laser pulses to improve energy efficiency. Using these same pulsed lasers, they are also investigating the efficiency of producing Hydrogen from coal. In addition, in collaboration with UK School of Medicine, Nano-particles are being used to effectively remove pathogens from human blood such as in prosthetic join infection.
