WKU CPR Training Center


The WKU CPR Training Center provides high quality CPR and first aid courses to WKU students, faculty/staff, and community members in the BRADD region. The training center is in affiliation and compliance with the American Heart Association (AHA).

COURSES PROVIDED:

Heartsaver CPR and First Aid 

Heartsaver CPR and first aid courses are designed for anyone with little or no medical experience. After completing the course, participants receive a two-year certification. 

  • Adult/child/infant CPR and AED: 4 hrs - $75/person
  • First Aid only: 4 hrs - $75/person 
  • CPR & First Aid: 7 hrs - $100/person

Heartsaver for K-12 Schools

K-12 schools wishing to train their students, faculty, and staff are eligible for the Heartsaver K-12 course. This course covers the same material as the Heartsaver CPR and First Aid, but is offered at a reduced cost.

  • Adult/child/infant CPR and AED: 4 hrs - $50/person 
  • First Aid only: 4 hrs - $50/person 
  • CPR and First Aid: 7 hrs - $100/person 

Discounts may be available for school districts looking to host multiple courses. Contact Gerita Cook with inquiries. 

Heartsaver Skills Check Off

Course Prerequisite: Heartsaver Blended Learning Course through

This is designed for participants who have completed the online Heartsaver course through the American Heart Association. Upon completing the online portion, students can register to complete their skills checkoff with the WKU CPR Training Center. 

  • Heartsaver CPR and first aid skills: 1 hr - $50

Skills checkoffs are scheduled on an as-needed basis. Contact Gerita Cook to schedule your checkoff. 

Basic Life Support (BLS)

This course is designed for prehospital providers and in-facility hospital providers. 

  • BLS: 4 hrs - $75/person

BLS Skills Check Off

Course prerequisite: HeartCode BLS(additional cost)

This is designed for participants who have completed the online HeartCode BLS course through the American Heart Association. Upon completing the online portion, participants can register to complete their skills checkoff with the WKU CPR Training Center. 

  • BLS skills: 1 hr, $45

ACLS, PALS, and ASLS Skills Check Off

Course Prerequisties: HeartCode ACLS, HeartCode PALS, or ASLS online (additional cost). 

These courses are designed for participants who have completed the online HeartCode course for the discipline of interest. Upon completed the online portion, participants can register to completed their skills checkoff with the WKU CPR Training Center.

  • ACLS skills: 2.5 hrs, $150 
  • PALS skills: 2.5 hrs, $150
  • ASLS skills: 2 hrs, $150

Instructor Course

Want to teach CPR and first aid? Become an AHA Heartsaver, BLS, ACLS, PALS, or ASLS instructor. This course trains you to lead CPR and first aid courses. After completing this course, you will be added to the AHA's instructor portal and can begin conducting your own courses.

  • Instructor fee: $350/person 
  • Renewal fee: $30

Instructor Information

  • Rosters - All CPR and first aid instructors must submit their course rosters to Gerita Cook.
  • CPR Cards - All AHA certification cards are now electronic. Once your roster is submitted, you can access your class's eCards through your AHA instructor portal. 
  • Roster fee - There is a $10 roster fee per course

  • Heartsaver = $25/student 
  • K-12 Schools Heartsaver = $8/student
  • BLS = $8/student
  • PALS = $10/student
  • ACLS = $10/student
  • PEARS = $10/student
  • ASLS = $10/student

Payment Information

The WKU CPR Training Center only accepts money orders and checks. Checks are to be written out to WKU CPR Training Center. 

If you are an on-campus department, you can pay through inter-account.

All payments are due day-of. Participants can pay via check or money order (written out to WKU CPR Training Center).
