MCAT and DAT Test Prep
In partnership with Kaplan Test Prep, the South Central KY AHEC offers self-paced online Kaplan Test Prep programs at a reduced cost. The online self-paced courses provide students with extensive content, practice questions, and complete practice tests.

The self-paced MCAT prep course costs $850* (compared to $1799).
The self-paced DAT prep course costs $650 (compared to $1299).

Students preparing to take the MCAT or the DAT can apply for the AHEC MCAT/DAT Advantage program. Selected students will be offered the self-paced MCAT prep course at a reduced cost of $300 or the Kaplan DAT prep course for $300. As part of the program, students must participate in the following:
- Online mandatory orientation -- November 14 at 5pm over Zoom
- Full Length Practice Test 1-- Saturday, January 25
- Full Length Practice Test 2 -- Saturday, March 29
- Full Length Practice Test 3 -- at least one week prior to your scheduled MCAT
- Complete a mock interview with the AHEC office - during the month of April
- Attend two personal statement workshops and submit their personal statement to the
AHEC office for review
- Personal Statement Workshop 1 (Zoom): February 25 - 5pm
- Personal Statement Workshop 2 (Zoom): March 25 - 5pm
- Monthly check-ins with the AHEC office (scheduled after you are accepted into the program)
- Complete a minimum of 5 hours of shadowing with a health professional.
- Communicate with the AHEC office on what medical school you were accepted into
Participants will be selected for the program based on their:
- MCAT readiness - Have you taken all of the pre-requisite courses?
- Kentucky residency - Kentucky residents are given priority
- Financial need
- Former Rural Health Scholars
