Health Career Explorers
Health Career Explorers is a program for high school students in Hardin County who are interested in learning more about different health professions. Throughout the program, students visit different departments at Baptist Health Hardin learning about each department and talking with health professionals. In some departments, students will get to try simulated medical procedures.
While any high school student can apply, the program gives preference to sophomores and juniors.
Throughout the program, students will explore multiple departments of the hospital as they learn about a variety of medical career paths. The program meets once a month from 4:45-7:00pm (unless noted otherwise).
Most meetings are held at the main hospital (913 N Dixie Ave, Elizabethtown, KY 42701). On several meetings, we will be traveling to different Baptist Health Hardin facilities throughout Elizabethtown.
Information and directions will be provided closer to the dates.
- Students must commit to attending all program sessions.
- Preference is given to current sophomores and juniors.
- All selected students must complete the Statement of Understanding and Confidentiality Agreement.

What do I wear to the program?
Please dress professionally. Khakis, a pair of dark colored jeans with no rips, black
pants, etc. A nice top, preferably no t-shirts or hoodies. You must wear closed-toed
and closed-heeled shoes to every meeting (hospital policy).
Where do we meet?
Most meetings we are at the main hospital. For these meetings, we will meet outside
the gift shop by the information desk on the first floor. If you are being dropped-off,
use the main entrance door. If you are driving, park in the garage, and enter the
hospital through the ER doors. Keep walking straight until you reach the information
desk. On days when we are meeting at other HMH facilities, specific instructions will be
emailed out prior to the meeting.
I am sick/there is a family emergency, I cannot attend. What should I do?
Let Jenni know! Send her an email Jenni Wilson or call 270-706-8718.
School is closed due to severe weather. Are we still meeting?
Often times the roads are greatly improved by the time our program is to begin. Jenni
will assess the conditions in the late morning and make a final decision. The final
decision will be emailed and texted out. You are also welcome to contact Jenni directly.
If you do not feel comfortable traveling in the given road conditions, please do not
come.
I really liked department _____ and would like to shadow there, what should I do?
Ask while we are at the department! Many of the departments will let students shadow
them during school breaks or on days when school is not in session.
If you still have further questions, don't hesitate to contact Jenni Wilson 270-706-8718.
