Business & Professional Speaking, Public Speaking Fundamentals, and courses relevant to professional experience in both business and creative aspects of media/advertising.
Bruce Crawley serves the Department of Communication in the dual roles of Instructor II and Academic Advisor. He specializes in teaching COMM 145 “Fundamentals of Public Speaking and Communication – Business Emphasis,” and advises students majoring in Communication Studies and Corporate & Organizational Communication.
With degrees in Telecommunications (B.A., 1975) and Communications (M.A., 1977) from the University of Kentucky, Mr. Crawley came to WKU in 2002, having already amassed over two decades of professional experience in the overlapping fields of radio, TV, and advertising. As a commercial copywriter and later as the owner/operator of his own full-service advertising agency he garnered 17 “Addy” Awards in the Lexington market for his creative work, while also teaching part-time at UK.
At WKU, Mr. Crawley teaches with enthusiasm for the vital role effective communication plays in a successful business. Since being designated a departmental advisor, he has earned two Advisor of the Year awards from Potter College of Arts & Letters (2007, 2010), and one from the University (2010).
Mr. Crawley lives in Warren County with his wife, Lee Ann, and a teeming menagerie of rescued dogs and cats.
