Branding, gamification, digital media, and privacy in a digital world
A native of Cleveland, OH, Cliff Shaluta graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, WV with a BBA in 1980 and M.A. in Communication in 1982. With a strong professional background in media management and marketing strategy, Cliff is Professor of Advertising at WKU and member of the graduate faculty. Cliff led both the AD+PR programs from 2005 until 2017. He now teaches courses in branding, digital media, research and sports branding/sponsorships. Cliff is a writer, with credits including Advertising for the Curious: Why Study Advertising?, a nationally-recognized guide to students interested in advertising education, as well as authoring a chapter on digital tracking for a new communication research textbook. Cliff was one of six faculty in the U.S. awarded the prestigious AEJMC Scripps Social Media Fellowship in 2012, which pairs academics with major corporations. Cliff presented his research on gamification and branding at HGTV headquarters in Knoxville, TN. Cliff is also regular invitee to the Edelman PR, New Media Academic Summits, which brings academics and business professionals from around the globe together to discuss emerging communication technologies.
